Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to Global Dialogues in Humanities and Pedagogy undergo a double-blind peer review process to ensure the highest standards of academic quality and integrity. Both the identities of the authors and the reviewers are kept anonymous throughout the review process.

The peer review process follows these steps:

1. Initial Editorial Evaluation
Upon submission, the editorial team conducts an initial screening to assess the manuscript’s suitability for the journal's scope, originality, and adherence to submission guidelines. Manuscripts that do not meet these basic requirements may be desk-rejected without external review.

2. Assignment to Reviewers
Eligible manuscripts are assigned to at least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise in the subject area. Reviewers are selected based on their academic qualifications, publication record, and familiarity with the topic.

3. Double-Blind Review
Reviewers evaluate the manuscript according to criteria such as originality, theoretical and methodological soundness, clarity of presentation, relevance to the journal’s scope, and contribution to the field. The review process typically takes 4 to 6 weeks, though this may vary depending on reviewer availability.

4. Reviewer Recommendations
Reviewers provide one of the following recommendations:

  • Accept without revision
  • Accept with minor revisions
  • Revise and resubmit (major revisions)
  • Reject

5. Editorial Decision
Based on the reviewers' comments and recommendations, the Editor-in-Chief or assigned Associate Editor makes the final decision. Authors receive a detailed decision letter that includes anonymized reviewer comments to guide revisions if needed.

6. Revision and Re-review (if applicable)
For manuscripts requiring revision, authors are given a specified time to address all comments. Revised submissions may be returned to the same reviewers for further evaluation.

7. Final Acceptance and Production
Once the manuscript meets all editorial and reviewer standards, it is accepted for publication. The article then proceeds to the copyediting, typesetting, and proofreading stages before being published online.

Reviewer Ethics and Confidentiality
All reviewers are expected to maintain the confidentiality of the manuscript and provide objective, constructive feedback. Any conflicts of interest must be disclosed to the editorial team prior to review.
